Increasing trend of Suicides in Pakistan

Nearly 300 people worldwide waste life by committing suicide daily. Looking at present situation of Pakistan where terrorism is at peak, people are living here in disastrous conditions. It is the gift of government for its people for not taking necessary steps to abolish prevailing evils. Islam doesn’t give permission to commit suicide or by targeting the innocent civilians. Major reasons are lack of information of religion and loss of confidence of people.

More than 25% of the Pakistan population is living below the poverty lines. Increase in poverty is promoting bad factors including suicide. Some people commit suicide in order to get rid of poor life.

It is the responsibility of present Govt. to take sufficient steps to nip the evil in the bud.

Education is one of the important thing through which we can change the destiny of our country.  Unfortunately Pakistan has dual educational system divided in Govt. and private schools. This frustrating situation becomes the cause of suicide. Some illiterate people might think that it is promised by the God to give place in the Heaven for committing suicide, but in fact, they are totally ignorant. There is a need to promote education by providing everyone the same educational system no matter whether someone belongs to high or low class.

Some people who want to terrorize the people by their different activities use method of suicide. Such people use the mechanism of brainwashing especially on 14-22 young innocent boys for their personal interest.

It is our responsibility to have a panoramic view around us and immediately contact to nearby Police station if we find anyone interested in harmful act.

Suicide is a major sin before Allah Almighty. Holly Prophet (P.B.U.H) has narrated that one who commits suicide will be punished by Allah in the same manner as he did. In the light of Quran, Allah Almighty says:"And do not kill yourselves. Surely, Allah is Most merciful to you. And whoever commits that through aggression and injustice, We shall cast him into the Fire…"(Al-Nisa)

Suicide rate increased by 4.1 units, when unemployment rate increased by a unit. According to a survey of South Asia Terrorism Portal (SATP), In Pakistan (2003-2009) almost 25070 people including 2876 security forces have been killed in suicide attacks. There is a need that we have to work very hard collectively to abolish this evil forever in order to bring peace and happiness in our society.
